I would like to dedicate this post to all the forgotten enslavesd people

In honor of black history month, I would like to dedicate this post to all the forgotten enslavesd people and ppl of color who probably had a hand in building this magnificent house(we can only speculate). The absolute date of when the house was built is unknown but we do know it was before 1830 which is only three years after the abolishment of slavery in New York. We know that the original owner of this house was an abolitionists who was adamantly against slavery.

We also know that Sophia Moore was born a slave who bought her own freedom and lived here in the house as a paid servant. I think of her often as these are the same stairs she would have climbed up and down everyday.
