I found the perfect spot for my butterfly milkweed Garden!
When you buy an old abandoned house, not only do you have fix the inside of the home but you also have to fix the land surrounding it. I think I found the perfect spot for my butterfly milkweed Garden!
At first, I thought I could plant the milkweed and nectar plants within the same proximity but I quickly learned I cannot do this for several reasons. First reason is because milkweed is such an aggressive plant, it really needs to be planted away from your lawn or areas you don’t want milkweed to grow. Second reason is because milkweed is the only host plant monarch caterpillars will eat so if you plant it near nectar plants, you run the risk of attracting other insects that eat monarch caterpillars so it’s best to keep milkweed apart from the other plants.
Anyway, I think this is the ideal location for my milkweed garden. Right now it’s all weeds(Lol
) but we plan on starting this project late October.
